He chose his profession,Law,because of the way black South Africans were being treated by the Government.
He took part and organised protests,rallies etc and for this he was jailed,sentenced to life and accused in as many ways possible to be defamed and to break his spirit.
He had the patience to serve 27 years in prison.
Not just 1 issue - he put his nose into AIDS epidemic,human rights and poverty too! :)
His greatness again worked towards South Africa acquiring the World Cup 2010.
