I love anything retro. In my free time I read and browse around for old movies, old times' lifestyles and pictures. The simple lifestyle of the people and innocent roads and buildings give me a thrill which I can't really explain. :)
So the story of Deewar isn't new today but apparently at taht time, it was a mirror of the way society was. Social problems of poverty, trade unions, employers and lower middle class families' issues were portayed in a touching way. Though all wasn't sob sob soaking hankerchief or dupatta wet movie. It has it's own style, actors' charisma, wonderful hummable songs and ofcourse ladies. Even now it's amongst the top 25 movies of must -watch and the dialogues are by heart by some PhD cinema lovers!
Like they say , classics are just ,classics. Period.
The temple scene near the famous temple of Bollywood.
Beginning of the famous fight scene. Amitabh gets in the warehouse and closes it himself much to the amazement of the gangmen....and starts beating them one by one. A very stylish scene.
The dialogue is touching as Amitabh's character recounts his tough childhood and remembers his mother's sacrifices.
I love this scene for the reason also that you get to see old Mumbai and Marine drive.
Mere paas gadi hai, banglaw hai ,bank balance hai .....
Tumhare paas kya hai?
Mere paas.....mere paas.... Ma hai!!
Parveen Babi - This movie rose the curtain of her new face and also the hidden faces of modern woman of that time. Some things like woman smoking, drinking, seen at bar and freely talking to men were still considered taboo. Babi showcased all these traits with elan. Towards the end of the movie her character also marks the homely aspect of a woman where she wants to settle down with the man whom she slept with and have a home. Pretty much human and real than all the sindoor show!
A perfect movie for weekends. You don' even need popcorns coz you gotta talk along with Big B! :)
