wish people on their special days, reply to messages, comment and keep the window open or log off.

Well I'm not really sure if I can send the message across in the true manner which I intend to. I'll start with my disclaimer which is  - I am not supporting social networking sites niether am I questioning professional people and their work style. I have been a working professional myself and have been showing certain behaviour patterns when it comes to these sites. Today those patterns made me think of the below questions.

Are we enjoying what was supposed to be a passtime? For some of us,it's like a daily attendance to watch what happens in others lives. Do we just watch and not see?

Do we really read (and not 'like') good status messages and ponder over them so that their message stays with us?

Is your 'farm' ready with new crops but no new messages in your inbox?

Is our social networking site just another news site for us where birthday and marriage pics gives us news of who's hooked and who's delivered? Is that our 'only' news source of our friends?

Do we use our social networking site for making some one's day better?

Do we spread our 'network' with new friends or touchbase with old friends with more than a hi ?

Do we 'socialise' with that old backbencher who was quiet in school or that bully whom everyone secretly hated but openly tolerated ?

Has Facebook become a routine amongst our other chores ? Just  a online phone directory or a place where we 'actually communicate ' ?

How about this ? -

argue, opine, think, smile, frown, laugh and keep the window open - not just the browser but also our minds

  1. I liked your last sentence... very true, there are too many of these sites... too much of info... information overload as they say... and top of it you are right, we need to keep not just our browser open but our minds too.
