You can see I am writing this post even before Easter actually arrived. Yes yes I am excited because 50 days of not having brownie or chocolate or gulaab jammoon can be quite hair-pulling time. But this post mostly is to reflect again on the days which went by.
Breaking news is that my lent in terms of food wasn't really successful. I got tempted in between by egg fried rice. Yes it felt bad later though the dish was damn good ! :P Also there were 2 birthdays in between and rest ,as they say, is history. Aaand, I cook regularly for my baby who mostly is fed non veg ,so it was very hard to resist ( sneakily and oh,so modestly, this post is going to be about my food skills !! )
Above everything else, lent is not about which food you give up or not. I do no think it was ever about food. It is about discipline, controlling your emotions, whether it is towards food or people. I mean how does it look if you just finished your prayer, had a vegan lunch and then shouted at your kiddo for disturbing you during prayer! ? Ridiculous right?!
I did not keep a strict lent towards food but I did manage to have a more successful one when it came to managing my temper and emotions. I forgave someone ( ok 99.8%) , was less stressed and let go of some grudges. I feel it did me a lot more good than giving up chicken tikka or giving up 'eyeing the tikka'. After all, Jeuss said, It is not what enters into the mouth that defiles the man, but what proceeds out of the mouth, this defiles the man. - Mathew 15.11
I am gonna continue with this message today and for the rest of the days to come. Not as a deadline or a goal, but as a way of my life.
Happy Easter people.
