A day at Qanat Quartier,Pearl Qatar
Last weekend our dear friend Rol and family took us to an impromptu noon walk to the Pearl. I have always been confused of the intricate roadways and alleys of this beautiful island in Doha. The quaint cafes are delightful not just to the eyes but also for the stomach. Which is a relief after all the climbing and walking in this spread-out architectural wonder.
Qanat Quartier is one of the precincts of Pearl Qatar. Built with a Venetian-like look,it has calm canals, quiet passageways and beach facing houses. Basically if you haven't been to Venice, this can fulfill half of your wish. :)
Ths beautiful area also has about 15 bridges with also one which is modeled like the Rialto Bridge of Venice. The above snap is all I could manage. Sadly our mobiles went on zero battery so could not take a proper snap plus we were busy walking and 'feeling' the place so plus one for that and minus for social media :)
We came across quite a few cafes and restaurants. The Breakfast Club, Attibassi, Esmer Chef, Crepa Crepa to name a few.
But what stole my heart was the architecture. Beautiful sombre color townhouses, quiet seated alleys and shaded spots. Definitely a far cry from the glass and glam of the financial center or the busy areas of rest of Qatar.
If you want to make best use of the last of this moderate climate, do walk around Pearl. Good for a quiet time out.
