Upon an Old Wall Dreaming - Book Review

Bond can create poems out of singing trees. The hills, valleys and shrubs have stories only he can discover.  Upon an Old Wall Dreaming is a collection of such writings and poular tales we have known for years.

Ruskin Bond’s short story collection and his novels all have a vivid picture of nature. The characters ,the turn of events may not be ground breaking or plot twisting rather a gentle ripple. Yet its his description of the riveting scenery, his love for the mute leaves ,the belonging to the winds which always pull us back to a Bond book.

Upon an Old Wall Dreaming is divided in fiction and non-fiction. The writings in fiction are a mix of chuckling plots, lives of hopes and some recurring characters of Bond’s stories.

Non Fiction is like Bond’s stories shared with the reader. From talking about the  deodars, teaks, balsams near his home, his conversations with the valleys, a non existent philosophy and the happenings in his hometown, Upon an Old Wall Dreaming closes with a promise that there is emotion in every bend of life if we only have the calmness to pause.
