Miss Esther's Guest - Sarah Orne Jewett - 245 / 365 of reading one short story every day.

Miss Esther's Guest

In Miss Esther's Guest, Miss Esther has decided to perform an act of charity and allow a poor elderly city dweller to visit for a week; but she wasn't expecting a man. The result is some comedic occurrences but the story shows community support for lonely humans, as was the base for many of Jewett's stories.
